Lance Corporal Jonathan B. Thornsberry

Lance Corporal Jonathan B. Thornsberry reported for basic training to Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina, in January 2004. After graduating, he reported to the School of Infantry at Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, where he earned the Military Occupational Specialty of a 0311 Rifleman. Upon completion of Infantry Training, Lance Corporal Thornsberry was assigned to Company L, 3d Battalion, 24th Marines, 4th Marine Division, Johnson City, Tennessee, where he served as a Rifleman.

In June 2006, Lance Corporal Jonathan B. Thornsberry was activated to augment Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 24th Marines, 4th Marine Division, Grand Rapids, Michigan, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Upon activation, Lance Corporal Thornsberry attended initial ILOC training at Camp Pendleton, California until the end of July. During August and September 2006 he continued his training in Twentynine Palms, California, where he participated in the Mojave Viper training package. Lance Corporal Thornsberry arrived in Al Fallujah, Iraq, 28 September 2006.

Lance Corporal Thornsberry is survived by his wife Toni, daughter Haylee, and his parents Jackie and Judy Thornsberry.

Decorations: Purple Heart, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Navy Unit Commendation.
